Solar photovoltaic (PV) modules are one method of harnessing the large amounts of energy from the sun which reaches us daily. Quite simply they produce electricity from daylight, how much will depend on your site, we can tell you how much and it will be more than you think.

What types there are;

There are three main PV cell formats: monocrystalline, polycrystalline (also known as multicrystalline) and amorphous silicon (also known as thin-film).

Crystalline cells are the most commonly manufactured type. There are performance variations depending on whether you opt for a ‘monocrystalline’ cell (often the more efficient of the two) or a mix of crystals or ‘polycrystalline’ cells which have a marble-like appearance. Polycrystalline cells can be cheaper to produce.

Hybrid cells These combine crystalline cells with another cell type, thin film to give the best overall performance and do not cost much more to produce than conventional crystalline cells.
