Warranty period.

Does the customer require an extended warranty period? Does the brand of inverter chosen offer extended warranties and what warranty do they give as standard? The industry standard for inverter warranties is 5 years. ? ?You’re also going to have to look at accessories. If your customer requires a personal display unit or data logging box does the inverter you have chosen have these accessories available?? ?

Where should I locate it?

Ideally, to minimise DC losses the inverter should be as close to the PV array as possible. In a domestic property this usually means the inverter is located in the loft space.
However, this is not always ideal, as loft spaces are usually the warmest place in domestic properties as heat rises from the central heating - getting hotter on bright summer days which in turn will may cause overheating of the inverter, resulting in the cooling fans operating to regulate its temperature, which will also reduce the output to minimise current flow.
We have mounted inverters in garages and cupboards that have the space (as often inverters are large, bulky items) where it can have a lower ambient temperature. The longer cable runs as a result of being further from the array may suffer losses - this is easily remedied with larger diameter cables.
